Positive mind. Positive vibe. Positive life. - by Kseniya Leonova
Everyone is in search of happiness; we all crave that freedom to be able to live a simple, carefree and happy life. I have never heard anyone say that they didn’t want to be happy.
But even though we reach out our hands towards happiness, it tends to slip through our fingers. And when we finally manage to get hold of it, sadly it seems to quickly pass us by.
I am always in search of inspiration, and I love reading thought-provoking quotes. Sometimes they help me in my life, and sometimes they might not. But even so, sharing something small with someone else might just make all the difference in their world.
And so, I thought I might share something with you today.
Here is a favourite of mine, and it is called the 7 Cardinal Rules For Life:
1) Make peace with your past so it won’t disturb your present.
I think this might be one of the hardest steps for some people, myself included. It’s so easy to hold on to the past and become its prisoner, and it’s not so easy to free yourself from it. Sometimes, we tend to look back too often instead of focusing on the present, and on what tomorrow has to offer. Don’t allow yourself to become caught up in the past, because what has been done - has been done. It cannot be changed, so let go and let yourself move on. Be free.
2) What other people think of you is none of your business.
Again, this is something we have all suffered from at one point or another. We worry about what people think of us, and what they might say. At the end of the day, the only person’s opinion that should ever matter is your own, people come and people go. Someone else does not determine who you are, or who you can be. You are your only critic.
And just like Willow Smith said:
“Your validation is just not that important to me. I’m me, and that’s all I can be. I’m free.”
3) Time heals almost everything. Give it time.
We hear this again, and again. But yet we don’t always have the patience to see it through. When you get sick, you don’t recover overnight. When you cut yourself, the wound doesn’t repair straight away. So the same goes for mental and emotional scars. When your heart is hurting, let it hurt, give it time. Keep your head up high, everything will be alright.
4) No one is in charge of your happiness. Except you.
Exactly, no one can take away your pain, so don’t let anyone take away your happiness! Don’t let someone be in control of your emotions and your feelings. Don’t let your life revolve around theirs. Be your own person; tell yourself what to feel for a change. Other people’s words and actions should not affect your feelings and emotions. They are YOURS, take them back and be in control again.
5) Don’t compare your life to others
And don’t judge them, you have no idea what their journey is all about.
Probably the worst thing we can do to ourselves, by comparing our behind the scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel. What you see is only the surface, you have no idea what someone’s life is like! No matter how perfect it may seem to you, you can’t judge. Right now, someone is probably looking at your life and wishing they were in your shoes. Comparing yourself to others is always a dead end.
6) Stop thinking too much. It’s alright not to know the answers. They will come to you when you least expect it.
Let life take its course, and trust in Allah (swt). He knows best, and surely He is the best planners of all. Just remember that. Sometimes it’s okay to sit back and take a breath, and acknowledge that you don’t always have all the answers. Allah will always have your back, no matter what. So don’t worry, just be happy.
You don’t own all the problems in the world.
The easiest, yet most overlooked way to find happiness. Just smile! It’s that simple, and it’s been psychologically proven that smiling helps to elevate your mood by releasing endorphins, and thus tricks your brain into feeling more positive!
And lastly, might I add one more to the list, my personal favourite:
8) Leave your worries behind with Prayer.
Just Remember - It’s only life. It’s only a test. And Jannah awaits us.
